Optimizing Health with Fruits & Vegetables and Total Balance

While the health care industry as a whole has moved away from the ideas of Hippocrates, the father of modern medicine – his mantra was “let food by thy medicine and medicine be thy food.” – many experts and organizations are once again emphasizing the notion that food plays a big role in better health.

We often hear from customers who wonder if they should be adding other supplements to their regimen, in an effort to ensure their cells are properly fueled.

The answer is generally, No.

According to the Harvard School of Public Health, “a diet rich in vegetables and fruits can lower blood pressure, reduce risk of heart disease and stroke, prevent some types of cancer, lower risk of eye and digestive problems, and have a positive effect upon blood sugar, which can help keep appetite in check.”

The Harvard-based Nurses’ Health Study and Health Professionals Follow-up Study, which included almost 110,000 men and women and assessed their dietary habits over 14 years, found that the more vegetables and fruits participants ate daily, the lesser their risk of developing cardiovascular conditions was.

According to the study, those who ate an average of eight or more servings a day – compared to those who ate less than 1.5 servings a day – were about 30 percent less likely to have a heart attack or stroke. (Ref. 1)

According to the World Cancer Research Fund, a diet rich in plant-based foods “probably” protects against a variety of cancers. (Ref. 2)

The non-profit organization recommends eating at least five servings of fruits and vegetables per day, making sure that two-thirds of our plates – or more – are filled with plant foods.

“Basing our diets on plant foods which contain fiber and other nutrients can reduce our cancer risk,” the group says on its website.

Why Total Balance is important

Still, we know that it’s almost impossible to take in all the nutrients we need every day, even if we eat the healthiest diet possible.

Some days we have no time for breakfast, and on others, we’re unable to resist the temptation of the doughnuts in the office break room or the ice cream vendor at the park.

Our Total Balance not only contains many of the essential nutrients found in most foods – albeit not doughnuts or ice cream - it also contains many specialty ingredients that are so beneficial to optimum cell health, but are made by our bodies rather than found in food. Without the right balance, our bodies can’t produce everything needed, so we often spend our days living with deficiencies in some essential nutrients.

Our formulas include a wealth of amino acids, enzymes, vitamins, and minerals, all designed to work in synergy with the others, enhancing the efficacy and creating a harmonious balance of nutrients.

Total Balance works best when teamed with the other supplements in our Core Wellness Activator family, including Omega-3/DHA Fish Oil and Kiwi-Klenz.

While Kiwi-Klenz is a whole fruit supplement – made from the skin and flesh of the New Zealand kiwifruit - this powerhouse helps promote digestive health, which means that not only will more of the nutrients you eat be absorbed, but your immune system will be stronger thanks to the prebiotics that support your body’s production of healthy gut flora, the which are essential to maintaining a strong immune system.
